James Joyce Tower Over the Irish Sea

James Joyce Tower, one of a series of defensive 'Martello' towers constructed along the Irish coast when an imminent invasion by Napoleon's armies was feared, was Joyce's residence for six nights in 1904 and subsequently the location of the opening scene in Ulysses.

It was also where we went to see the Irish Sea, something we used to get Tilia excited to go on the trip through her familiarity with it from the song When I Was One. Ever since we made that connection she for some reason got really excited to go swim in the Irish Sea, and when we got there that's exactly what she did. Never mind it was gray and had been raining on and off all morning, that certainly didn't deter the locals and would not deter her either.

And after talking about it for months she was so excited to get in the water. And never mind that it was so fun to watch I completely forgot to take pictures of the tower itself. I'm afraid you'll have to look elsewhere if you want to actually see the thing.
